Match Details
QPR vs Brentford
Loftus Road
Carabao Cup
Kick-Off: 7.45pm
The Opposition
Tipped by many to struggle before a ball was kicked this season, QPR have enjoyed an encouraging start to the season under Ian Holloway to sit sixth in the Sky Bet Championship table after the opening four games. Home wins over Reading and Hull City, plus a point earned away at Sheffield Wednesday, have seen them take seven points while progress in the Carabao Cup came courtesy of a 1-0 win over Northampton Town at Loftus Road.
By recent standards it's been a very quiet summer in W12 with only Josh Scowen [Barnsley] and Alex Baptiste [Middlesbrough] signing for The Rs while Ben Gladwin [Blackburn Rovers], Michael Doughty [Peterborough United], and Josh Bowler [Everton] headed in the other direction.
The Manager
Ian Holloway had been out of work for 18 months before he took over as QPR boss last November. It is his second spell in charge at Loftus Road. He spent five years at the helm at the turn of the century and took QPR out of the third tier after overseeing their relegation in 2001. He consolidated them in the second tier before leaving in 2006.
Holloway had a short spell at Brentford during his playing career but was best known for three spells at Bristol Rovers and his time at QPR. He went into management as player-boss at Bristol Rovers in 1996 and had four years in charge before taking the QPR job. Holloway, 54, took both Blackpool and Crystal Palace to the Premier League and has also managed Plymouth Argyle, Leicester City and Millwall. He left Millwall in early 2015 and worked for Sky Sports before taking over at QPR.
