The Opponents

It's been another turbulent season in South Wales with Cardiff City sitting just outside the relegation places and onto manager number three of the year. After Russell Slade's departure at the end of last season, Paul Trollope took over the reigns in May. Eight points from 11 matches saw the former Welsh International lose his job in October with The Bluebirds second from bottom in the table. In his place came Neil Warnock who has helped to oversee an upturn in form in South Wales. Warnock's 11 games in charge have produced four wins, three draws, and four defeats to leave the Welsh side three points above the drop zone heading into their Boxing Day trip to West London.

The summer saw a number of high-profile arrivals at The Cardiff City Stadium in the form of Lex Immers [Feyenoord], Frederic Gounongbe [Westerlo], Kenneth Zohore [Kortrijk], Ashley Richards [Fulham], Emyr Huws [Wigan Athletic], Joe Bennett [Aston Villa], Rickie Lambert [West Bromwich Albion], Brian Murphy and Junior Hoilett [both QPR], Souleymane Bamba [Leeds United], Marouane Chamakh [Crystal Palace], and Ben Amos [Bolton Wanderers loan]. Heading in the other direction were Eoin Doyle [Preston North End], Scott Malone [Fulham], Kenwyne Jones [Atlanta], Fabio Da Silva [Middlesbrough], Simon Moore [Sheffield United], and David Marshall [Hull City].

The Manager

Neil Warnock is one of the most experienced and well-known managers in English football after a career spanning more than 35 years. Sheffield-born Warnock made his name by leading Notts County from the Third Division to the First Division in the early 1990's. He also won promotion with Huddersfield Town and Plymouth Argyle before an eight-year spell with his boyhood club Sheffield United. At Bramall Lane he led The Blades to the 2003 FA Cup and League Cup Semi-Finals before winning promotion to the Premier League in 2006. He resigned after United were relegated in 2007 before two spells with Crystal Palace and Queens Park Rangers, either side of a year at Leeds United. He rejoined Rotherham last February with The Millers looking certainties for relegation. However, a run of 23 points from 13 games to the end of the season secured safety before he departed in the summer ahead of his arrival at the Cardiff City Stadium in October.
