Saturday 16th April

Griffin Park

Kick-off: 3pm

Bristol City were promoted last season as champions of League One and arrive at Griffin Park ten points clear of the bottom three. The reverse fixture saw The Bees come from a goal down to win 4-2 against ten-man City.

The Robins have kept themselves away from danger with wins against the teams around them, like Nottingham Forest and Huddersfield Town. They have also completed a league double over table-topping Middlesbrough this season.

This month has been a mixed one for today’s visitors. It started with a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Hull City, a 1-1 draw with Rotherham United was then followed by a surprise 4-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday last weekend.

The Club announced on Wednesday that Bobby Reid and Wes Burns had agreed new one-year contracts. Burns had been on loan at Fleetwood for most of the season but recently returned to sign the new deal.

The squad was also boosted in January by the arrival of fullback Scott Golbourne from Wolverhampton Wanderers on a permanent deal. They also signed Richard O’Donnell [Wigan Athletic] and Alex Pearce [Derby County] on loan. Forward Peter Odemwingie joined on a short loan deal from Stoke City last month, as did fullback Adam Matthews [Sunderland].

The books were balanced by the departure of Adam El-Abd [Gillingham], Billy Murphy [Bath City] and Max O’Leary [Kidderminster Harriers] on loan deals of their own. Former Brentford defender Karleigh Osborne won’t make a return to the club he started his career with because he is currently out on a season-long loan to AFC Wimbledon.

Son of Cheltenham Town boss Gary, Lee Johnson played for his father at Yeovil Town and Bristol City. In his 13-year playing career, he also appeared for Heart of Midlothian, Derby County, Chesterfield and Kilmarnock.

At 34, Johnson became the youngest manager in the Championship in February when he replaced Steve Cotterill at Ashton Gate. The last time he faced Brentford was in March 2014 as the manager of League One Oldham Athletic, which ended as a goalless draw.
