Manager Mark Warburton reflected on the 2-2 draw with Bolton Wanderers that sees his team’s Play-Off hopes finely balanced with two games to go.

Seemingly in control, the home side conceded a second half equaliser due to a defensive error and could not penetrate the Bolton goal further to take all three points.

“It’s disappointing; I thought we were a little bit sloppy all afternoon in terms of final pass and just taking care,” said Mark.

“A 2-1 we were in control of the game, and moving the ball well.

“It’s a mistake, it’s as simple as that.

“The ball has got to be cleared; you want to play it at the right time but we paid the price.

“As a group we always talk about taking care of the football, make good decisions; that’s what we do and we’ve done really well all season.

“I just felt first half especially, or first hour, we were a little bit loose, not necessarily just in the final third but all over the park and in truth the goal given away was a loose pass.

“When we do it well, we’re careful and today we weren’t quite at our best.”

Despite the result, Mark thought two wins could be enough to dislodge sixth-placed Ipswich Town, who drew 1-1 with fellow Play-Off contenders Wolverhampton Wanderers.

“78 points might well be enough,” said Mark.

“It’s a big figure to say you are not going to get in the Play-Offs as 78 might be enough.

“We have to win at Reading and we have to beat Wigan; it’s as simple as that.”

Mark defended his group of players, saying although down after the result, would return to training hungry to make amends in Berkshire next Sunday against Reading.

“We’ve given a goal away and dropped two points and it’s obviously impacted us,” said Mark.

“We would have been on 74, now we’re sitting on 72 but 78 is within our reach, we are going to train hard, work hard and focus on a good performance on Saturday at another tough venue.

“They are a great group of players and I can’t speak highly enough for them.”
