Marinus Dijkhuizen said now is the time to turn good performances into wins as Preston North End visit Griffin Park on Saturday.
The Bees haven’t won in their last four Sky Bet Championship fixtures but despite that Marinus believes he is seeing good signs of improvement.
Returning to Griffin Park after two tough away matches Marinus sees now as the time that performances need to equal points.
“We have taken just one point from our last four games so that is not good,” said Marinus speaking to Bees Player HD ahead of the match. “We need to get a win at home in front of our own crowd. We have three games at home now and I am happy about that as playing at home and not travelling is always good. We need some points. It is good to play well but we also missed a lot of chances in the games against Leeds United and Middlesbrough so we could have won them. We are close to winning and now that has to happen tomorrow.”
Last weekend saw Brentford travel to Leeds United on Saturday for a 1-1 draw at Elland Road before a 3-1 defeat at The Riverside Stadium against Middlesbrough on Tuesday night.
Despite picking up just the one point Marinus said he saw signs that his team was coming together.
“We made a couple of changes for the games at Leeds United and Middlesbrough bringing Alan McCormack into the midfield alongside Toumani Diagouraga,” said Marinus. “I think Toumani has bounced back very well after his early substitution and he has had two good games. Alan Judge played well out on the left so I think we have better balance in our team now and we are playing better and creating more chances. I have a positive feeling about our team, not necessarily about out points, but we are playing better.”
Simon Grayson’s side come to Griffin Park on Saturday 19th in the Sky Bet Championship and are without a win in their last five matches.
The Brentford Head Coach expects The Lilywhites to try and frustrate his team and called on his players to remain patient.
“I watched some Preston games yesterday and they defend very well,” said Marinus. “They will drop off a lot and narrow the spaces to make it difficult. We will have a lot of the ball tomorrow so we will have to be patient to find the spaces. It will be a tough game. We will have a lot of ball possession and be creative and then finish the chances that we create.”
Saturday’s fixture will be the first game at Griffin Park for three weeks and Marinus believes that, with The Bees extensive injury list and recent form, the home crowd can have a huge role to play in lifting his side this weekend.
“It will be good to have home support and we need that support because we have been very unlucky with all our problems,” said Marinus. “It will be good to get support from the crowd because we need a bit extra at the moment. Their support will be good for us.”
