Marcello Trotta hailed the way Brentford reacted to going a goal down against Coventry City.

The Bees came back from conceding an early goal and having an Alan Judge penalty saved to beat Coventry 3-1 on Saturday.

Clayton Donaldson equalised before Marcello scored from 20 yards to put The Bees ahead.

Alan McCormack made the game safe with a third just after the break.

Marcello, who spoke to Bees Player: Match Day Live after the game, said Brentford’s reaction to falling behind was “unbelievable”.

“We played really well,” said the striker.

“We didn’t start the first half as we wanted but by the end we were playing really good football.

“That is why we won the game.

“We reacted really well to going behind.

“We got the penalty and kept going even though that didn’t go in.

“We got to 1-1 and then 2-1 and we could have had more goals after that.

“We knew we had not been at our best in the first half and we needed to be quicker at the start of the second.

“That can happen.

“The way we reacted was unbelievable.”

Marcello took his tally to 13 for the season with the goal, which came a week after he scored the winner in the top-of-the-table London derby against Leyton Orient.

The striker said playing in lots of high pressure games as Brentford chased promotion was helping him.

“I think I am improving every game,” said Marcello.

“That is good for my development.

“We are under pressure and every game is important, it is good to feel you are getting better.

“I am learning every week.

“That is great.”

Marcello’s goal came when he picked up a Jonathan Douglas pass, wriggled away from three men and fired low from 20 yards.

“Sometimes you don’t have time and space, you have to finish quickly,” said the striker.

“Today I got a touch and saw the space for the finish.

“The ball went in.”

Brentford had chances to make the game safe and Marcello said The Bees had to be careful to kill teams off.

“We should have scored more and killed the game,” he said.

“We played good football but sometimes the opposition will get a chance and be back in the game.

“We need to secure the game.”

Brentford’s next game is against Rotherham United tomorrow.

The Bees are second in Sky Bet League One, two places ahead of their opponents.

They are, however, ten points clear with a game in hand.

“It is another game to go and win,” said Marcello.

“We have ten games left and we want to win all of them.

“We will prepare for every match and try our best to win.”
