Ruth Cadbury MP has praised the 'amazing' work that is being done by Brentford's new partnership, the Heart of West London.
The Club has teamed up with a number of leading charities to improve cardiac health in the local community.
And the MP for Brentford and Isleworth discussed the importance of raising awareness of the issue.
"I was pleased to be able to attend the launch of the Heart of West London and to hear about the amazing work being done by so many different organisations to promote heart health locally," she said.
“With over 20,000 people in Hounslow borough living with heart or circulatory diseases, it’s so important that we work to raise awareness, promote screening and exercise, widen training in CPR for cardiac arrest, and provide support around heart health.
“I had the chance to learn and practice CPR on a test dummy - performing CPR can more than double the chances of surviving a cardiac arrest and it’s such an important skill to learn.
“Cardiac arrest among young people is an issue close to all our hearts in Brentford after Brentford's technical director Robert Rowan passed away at the age of 28 in 2018 from an undiagnosed heart condition. My son also lost a school friend in the same way.
“I will continue to work with organisations locally to raise awareness and ensure we make progress in improving cardiac health.’’
Brentford midfielder Sergi Canos was also at the launch and added: "When I came, Rob was here and he was a big part of Brentford, and he still is.
"He is a big part of what we are now and, thanks to him, we have these initiatives.
“With Christian Eriksen, he explained everything that happened and now we know more about these things.
“I will tell my team-mates about the CPR I've learned because, if someone collapses and we have no medical team around us, it’s just us. We need to make sure that everyone is good and that everyone knows what to do.
“Heart screening is important for everyone as well. It’s important to know how your body is and how everything is working. If you know that something is not working earlier, it's better than knowing it later.”
