Tariqe Fosu registered a pair of assists as Rotherham United secured a crucial three points on Tuesday 21 February at home to Sunderland.

The on-loan winger teed up Ollie Rathbone for a fine individual opener after 19 minutes and then fed Shane Ferguson, who doubled Rotherham’s lead just before the hour.

Joe Gelhardt pulled one back for Sunderland shortly after but the home side held on for a first win in six.

The 2-1 victory opened up a five-point gap between the Miller’s and the relegation zone ahead of a trip to Swansea City on Monday 27 February, and Saturday’s visit from Queens Park Rangers.

Myles Peart-Harris provided the assist for Forest Green Rovers’ equaliser at home to Lincoln City on Saturday but the games are starting to run out in their battle to avoid relegation from League One.

Ben House gave Lincoln the lead after just four minutes but a cushioned pass inside the area from Peart-Harris to Jordan D’Andre Garrick saw a leveller just before the hour.

That was how it ended, the draw leaving Rovers eight points from safety ahead of their weekend visit to Aaron Pressley’s Accrington Stanley.

Stanley saw their run in the EFL Trophy come to an end at the semi-final stage on Wednesday night.

Pressley played 90 minutes against Bolton Wanderers. Stanley’s task was made harder by Sean McConville’s 22nd-minute red card. However, it took until the final eight minutes for Bolton to make their advantage count, Elias Kachunga and Aaron Morley netting late on.

Pressley then played another 66 minutes on Saturday in Accrington’s goalless draw against Burton Albion. The point leaves Stanley inside the bottom four only on goal difference.

Another side in the League One relegation zone are MK Dons. Paris Maghoma played the full 90 minutes for MK as Sam Morsy’s 26th-minute goal was enough to give Ipswich Town all three points at Stadium MK.

After three consecutive defeats, MK are now 22nd with trips to Lincoln City and Port Vale to look forward to this week.

Ellery Balcombe was an unused substitute as Bristol Rovers won 3-0 at Oxford United. The result cost Karl Robinson his job with the U’s, as Rovers climbed back up to 13th with the win. Joey Barton’s side are at home to Barnsley this coming weekend.
