For Paris Maghoma and Aaron Pressley, the relegation battle in the third tier took another twist on Saturday.

Maghoma got an assist on Saturday as MK Dons shared eight goals with Barnsley on a crazy afternoon at Stadium:MK.

Having fallen behind, MK mounted a stirring comeback to lead 4-1 deep into the second half. However, Barnsley scored three times in the final 17 minutes to deny MK a vital three points.

Heading into Sunday’s season finale at Burton, MK are only out of the bottom four on goal difference.

Things are even more precarious for Pressley and Accrington Stanley, who look set to drop into the fourth tier following their 2-1 defeat to fellow strugglers Cambridge United. Aaron scored an 83rd-minute penalty for Stanley, but it wasn’t enough with Cambridge two goals to the good by that stage.

Three points from safety and with a far inferior goal difference, Stanley will need a miracle when they travel to Oxford United on Sunday. Their fate could even be sealed before then should Cambridge United win their game in hand at Burton on Wednesday night.

Myles Peart-Harris played 50 minutes for Forest Green Rovers as they signed off their season at home with a 3-0 defeat to Oxford United. Already preparing for life in League Two, Rovers head to Cambridge on the final day.

The midfielder was involved in the goal, winning the ball back high up the pitch, as Rotherham ended their six-year yo-yo between League One and the Championship.

Rotherham’s final game of the season comes at bottom-of-the-table Wigan Athletic on Monday.

Halil Dervisoglu didn’t make the Burnley squad for their 2-1 win away at Bristol City. With promotion and the championship long sewn-up, Burnley will pass the 100-point mark on Monday if they beat Cardiff City at Turf Moor.

Crewe host Bradford City on Wednesday night, before travelling to Newport County on Monday to close out the season.
