Paris Maghoma made his return from injury in a 2-1 win for Bolton Wanderers over Northampton Town on Saturday.

Sidelined since the start of September, Maghoma played the final 16 minutes at the Toughsheet Community Stadium for the high-flying Trotters.

Two goals in the opening 16 minutes from Dion Charles and Randell Williams handed Bolton a third win in four and lifted them to fourth in the Sky Bet League One table, ahead of trips to Wycombe Wanderers and Charlton Athletic this week.

One of the sides that Bolton are trying to catch is Fin Stevens’ Oxford United after their 1-1 draw at home to Blackpool at the weekend kept them in second.

United led for much of the contest thanks to Greg Leigh’s first-half strike, only for Jordan Rhodes to pop up with a 92nd-minute leveller. Stevens played the final half an hour for a United side who travel to Wigan Athletic on Tuesday night, before hosting Wycombe Wanderers at the weekend.

Wigan warmed up for that game with a smash-and-grab 2-0 win over Ryan Trevitt and Exeter City on Saturday.

Despite having 30 shots to Wigan’s six, the Grecians ended up on the end of a 2-0 home defeat which drops them to 16th in the table.

Trevitt played the full 90 minutes as Exeter go into this week’s games at Derby County and at home to Lincoln City on the back of five straight league defeats.

The side below Exeter in the table are Bristol Rovers, following their 4-1 loss at Burton Albion.

The game turned midway through the second half when former Bee Ryan Woods was shown a straight red card. 2-1 down at the time, the Gas went on to concede twice more in the closing stages to confirm defeat.

Matt Cox played the full 90 minutes, while Tristan Crama returned to play the second half following eight weeks out with a knee injury.

Rovers host Stevenage and Northampton Town in their games this week.

In Sky Bet League Two, Daniel Oyegoke was an unused substitute as Bradford City took a point from their home game against in-form Wrexham.

Three points off the play-off places, Bradford head to MK Dons and Sutton United this week.

Ben Winterbottom missed Welling United’s trip to Torquay United on Saturday due to injury.

Forced off just before half-time in their narrow Emirates FA Cup fourth qualifying round defeat to Boreham Wood ten days ago due to a head injury, Winterbottom had to watch on as the Wings were beaten 5-1 in his absence.

The keeper will hope to recover in time to face Maidstone United on Tuesday night, or Chippenham Town on Saturday.
