Paris Maghoma was on target again for Bolton Wanderers last week but a pair of 2-2 draws saw the Trotters miss out on the chance to move back into the Sky Bet League One automatic promotion places.

After sharing four goals with Barnsley on Tuesday night at Oakwell, a game in which Maghoma featured off the bench for the final 20 minutes, Bolton made the long trip to Exeter City on Saturday.

Restored to the starting line-up, Maghoma timed his run into the box perfectly to slot home the opener just past the half-hour mark.

Ahead at the interval, Bolton found themselves behind within four minutes of the restart – Sonny Cox netting a quickfire double.

Ian Evatt’s side kept searching for a leveller and, as with midweek when they scored in the 98th minute to salvage a draw, found a late goal through Eoin Toal to take a point.

Bolton sit a point outside the automatic promotion places ahead of two huge games this week. On Tuesday they are at home to seventh-placed Oxford United, then they visit second-placed Derby County on Saturday.

Fin Stevens and Oxford go into Tuesday’s game following a late 2-1 victory over Cheltenham Town at the weekend.

Stevens played the full 90 minutes as Oxford looked like they were going to be denied all three points by a late Will Ferry equaliser at Kassam Stadium.

But Greig Leigh popped up with two minutes remaining to secure a first win in five for the U’s, closing the gap on the play-off places to just a point in the process.

After Tuesday’s trip to Toughsheet Community Stadium, Oxford head to struggling Port Vale at the weekend.

Myles Peart-Harris played the first half of Portsmouth’s goalless draw at 10-man Blackpool on Saturday.

The league leaders dominated the game, especially following Jordan Rhodes’ dismissal just before the break, but couldn’t find a way past an inspired Daniel Grimshaw in the home goal.

Portsmouth are six points clear of third with nine to play, starting with Tuesday’s home game against Burton Albion and Saturday’s visit to Peterborough United.

The Posh, themselves, have roared back into contention for automatic promotion thanks to a four-game winning run.

Michael Olakigbe played the closing minutes of their midweek 5-1 thrashing of Northampton Town and was then an unused substitute for a 3-1 victory at Burton Albion 48 hours ago.

Posh host play-off chasing Stevenage on Wednesday ahead of that visit from Pompey.

Charlie Goode helped Wigan Athletic keep a clean sheet in their victory over 10-man Leyton Orient on Saturday.

Ethan Galbraith was dismissed for the O’s shortly before the break. It took until the final 20 minutes but Wigan did eventually made their advantage count through Jason Kerr. Goode was withdrawn just before the winning goal after playing 72 minutes.

Wycombe Wanderers and Blackpool are the Latics’ opponents in the third tier this week.

Matt Cox and Tristan Crama were both unused substitutes for Bristol Rovers’ 3-0 defeat at home to Derby County on Saturday.

The Gas are on the road at Fleetwood Town and Lincoln City over the next seven days.

In Sky Bet League Two, Daniel Oyegoke returned to the matchday squad for the first time since November following injury as Bradford City won 3-0 at Accrington Stanley.

That victory, coupled with the Bantams’ 1-1 draw with Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday night, leaves City five points outside the play-offs with two games in hand.

This week’s games sees Bradford host Forest Green and Mansfield Town.
