While Brentford were winning their fifth straight npower League One game yesterday, four young players were getting a taste of Boxing Day football.
Development Squad central defender Alfie Mawson played for Maidenhead United in their 1-1 draw with Hayes and Yeading United.
Alfie made his second appearance for the Berkshire club and played 90 minutes at the heart of the Maidenhead defence.
Maidenhead fell behind in the first half but equalised inside the final three minutes to take a point.
They currently sit 17th in the Blue Square Bet South.
Luke Norris was also in action in the same division, making his third appearance for Boreham Wood.
The Hertfordshire club also drew 1-1, picking up a point against Staines Town.
Staines went ahead in the second half but Boreham Wood also struck late, this time an 81st minute equaliser giving them a share of the spoils.
Both teams could have won the game but the point leaves Boreham Wood fourth in the table
Development Squad defender Sam Griffiths played 90 minutes for Carshalton Athletic as they won a Ryman Premier League game against Hampton and Richmond Borough.
Carshalton, who are bottom of the Ryman Premier League, picked up their first away win of the season thanks to a first half goal.
They kept only their third clean sheet in 20 league games to close the gap on the teams above them.
Sam nearly scored early on for the Surrey side but a 36th minute goal was enough to give them the points.
Brentford scholar Josh Clarke was a second half substitute Carshalton.
Josh is in the second year of a two-year scholarship but qualifies for the Club’s Under-21 side due to his age and is at Carshalton on a work experience deal.
Tyrell Miller-Rodney and Sam Beale are with Northwood, of the Evo-Stick Southern League Central Division, on the same work experience basis.
Northwood’s Boxing Day fixture against North Greenford United was postponed.
