For Theo it was a dream start to the season as four second-half goals saw Rovers take the points from their long opening day trip to Grimsby Town. The match was delicately poised at 1-1 when Theo was introduced on the hour. And the 20-year-old made an instant impact, his pressing forcing James Collins into an overhit back-pass which beat James McKeown and found the back of the Grimsby net.
After that Rovers took total control and were rewarded with two further goals to wrap up the points; Christian Doidge grabbing both late on to get his campaign up and running. Oldham Athletic are next on the agenda for the Green Devils with The Latics making the trip to the New Lawn next Saturday.
Reece Cole’s Yeovil Town debut was an all-together less enjoyable affair as the nine-man Glovers conceded in the last minute at Bury. Town saw Tom James and Jordan Green dismissed with almost half-an-hour still to play in Lancashire. Reece was introduced late on as it looked like, despite their two-man disadvantage, Yeovil would hang on for a point. However, Gold Omotayo’s rose bravely to nod home from close range in the dying seconds. Mansfield Town provide the opposition for Yeovil next Saturday as The Stags head to Huish Park.
After their moves to Boreham Wood earlier today, Ellery Balcombe and Justin Shaibu could both make their National League debuts tomorrow night against Havant and Waterlooville.
