Nathan Young-Coombes made his injury return on Boxing Day to help ten-man AFC Wimbledon earn a point at home to Newport County.

The striker had been out since early September due to a knee injury but played the final three minutes of Monday’s 1-1 draw.

The action all came in 12 second-half minutes, with Ethan Chislett putting the Dons ahead just before the hour. Kyle Hudlin was then sent off for an off-the-ball incident before Offrande Zanzala secured a point for Newport with a 70th-minute penalty.

Paris Maghoma missed the Boxing Day action due to an ankle injury which is set to keep him on the sidelines for an extended period. 13th-placed AFC complete their festive programme with trips to Colchester United tomorrow and then Sutton United on New Year’s Day.

The meeting between Daniel Oyegoke’s MK Dons and Myles Peart-Harris’ Forest Green Rovers saw MK secure a crucial three points in the League One relegation battle. Oyegoke wasn’t involved, while Peart-Harris played the full 90 minutes of the game at Stadium:MK which was settled by Daniel Harvie’s 58th-minute goal.

MK leapfrogged Forest Green with the win and are now just a point from safety at the midway point of the campaign.

MK have a tough weekend ahead, travelling to eighth-placed Peterborough United and top-of-the-table Plymouth Argyle, while Forest Green host Burton Albion, who sit a place below them in 23rd, and Port Vale.

There was no action for any of our loanees in the Championship. Fin Stevens and Halil Dervisoglu were both not in their respective squads on Boxing Day, while Tariqe Fosu was an unused substitute.

In Stevens' absence, Swansea City were beaten 2-1 at Reading, while Dervisoglu's Burnley kept up a furious pace at the top with a 3-0 win over Birmingham City. Stoke took a point from their trip to Rotherham United thanks to an 80th-minute Lee Peltier own goal in the 2-2 draw.

Burnley’s remaining Christmas games come at Stoke City tomorrow and Swansea City on Monday. Swansea’s other game is at home to Watford tomorrow while Stoke host Preston North End on Monday.
