Brentford loanee Michael Olakigbe featured for Chesterfield in their League Two play-off final first leg defeat to Walsall on Sunday afternoon.

The winger, who has started the last nine games for Paul Cook's side, played 67 minutes in the home leg, as the Spireites suffered a blow to their League One promotion hopes after a 2-0 loss.

The visitors took the lead when Taylor Allen coolly slotted home from the penalty spot, before the Saddlers made it two before the break when Alfie Chang drilled home a fierce low shot from the edge of the area.

Tommy Simkin was forced into saves in the Walsall goal either side of Ash Palmer's header, which bounced off the crossbar, but the home side could not find a goal to take into the second leg.

Olakigbe and his Chesterfield team-mates will travel to the Bescot Stadium for the second leg on Friday evening.

Elsewhere, Ellery Balcome was an unused substitute as Motherwell lost 3-0 to Hearts on Saturday. The Scottish side are already safe from relegation, with two league games remaining.

Mads Roerslev came on as a substitute as Wolfsburg drew 2-2 with Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga on Friday night; they sit mid-table in the German top flight with one game left.

In the same division, Frank Onyeka played the majority of Augsburg's 4-0 defeat to Stuttgart, which leaves them one place above Wolfsburg in 11th.
