Konstantin Kerschbaumer provided his sixth assist of the season as DSC Arminia Bielefeld kept their faint promotion hopes alive with a 2-0 win over Erzgebirge Aue at SchücoArena on Saturday. The Austrian midfielder returned after a one-game suspension to set up Andreas Voglsammer for the 42nd minute opener. The points were then secured after the break as Fabian Klos netted his fifth of the season with 20 minutes to play. The win leaves DSC six points off third-placed Holstein Kiel with four games to play; the first of which comes against mid-table Braunschweiger TSV Eintracht 1895 next Friday night.

In Sky Bet League Two, a third game without a win appears to have put pay to Jack Bonham and Carlisle United’s Play-Off hopes. This time The Cumbrians were held to a 1-1 draw at Morecambe to lose more ground in the Play-Off race. Jamie Devitt thundered home a 14th minute free-kick to put Keith Curle’s side ahead but the hosts responded on the half-hour through Callum Lang. That was how it stayed as Carlisle remain tenth, five points off the top seven, but having played more games than many of their Play-Off rivals. Title-chasing Luton Town head to Brunton Park on Saturday with Carlisle playing catch-up in the promotion race.

Also in League Two, a single Christian Doidge goal two minutes before the break settled El Glosico between Ilias Chatzitheodoridis’ Cheltenham Town and Forest Green Rovers. The Bees on-loan defender played the full 90 minutes as Doidge smashed home the only goal late on in the first-half to ease Rovers relegation worries. The Robins remain 16th after the defeat and travel to Cambridge United next Saturday for their third-last league game of the campaign.

It looks like the Sky Bet League One relegation battle will go down to the wire after Walsall let a 2-0 lead slip to lose 3-2 to fellow strugglers AFC Wimbledon on Saturday. Jack Fitzwater and Julian Ngoy had The Saddlers two goals to the good at the break and seemingly on their way to a vital three points. However, Joe Piggott pulled one back at the start of the second-half before Lyle Taylor levelled things up with 25 minutes to play. The sucker-punch came in the 96th minute as Dean Parrett crashed home from the penalty spot. Justin came off the bench late on for his 13th Walsall appearance as Dean Keats men slip to 19th, three points above the drop zone. Next up for The Saddlers is a trip to high-flying Scunthorpe United on Saturday.
