Josh Laurent made his Football League debut on Saturday as a late substitute but he couldn't prevent Newport County slipping to a third defeat in four league games.

The 20-year-old midfielder joined Newport on a one-month Youth loan last week and was named on the bench as Leyton Orient visited Rodney Parade.

The Os had won their first three league matches and looked certain to make it four with two goals in the opening seven minutes.

Terry Butcher's County side hit back with two goals in a minute just before the break to go in level but Dean Cox restored Orient's lead on the hour mark.

Josh was introduced for his Newport debut with 15 minutes to go and could have rescued a point in the dying minutes but he failed to convert from 12 yards out.

Next up for County is a trip to Plymouth Argyle in Sky Bet League Two this Saturday.
