The on-loan Brentford stopper made a fine first-half block to deny Alex Fisher as the two sides went in level at the break. The pair clashed again at the start of the second-half with Jack again coming out on top, getting a strong hand to the striker's effort as he raced clear.

That save proved vital as Rovers took the lead shortly after, Alex Jakubiak rifling home from 15 yards. The game was decided with five minutes to play, Alex Rodman's long-range effort taking a massive deflection to wrongfoot Nathan Baxter and find the back of the net. There was still time for Jack to make one more telling contribution with a save from Yoann Arquin as The Gas made it two wins from two in the EFL Trophy.

Darrell Clarke's side return to action this Saturday away at Burton Albion in Sky Bet League One.

Theo Archibald was also in action for Forest Green Rovers as they lost 4-2 on penalties to Coventry at The Ricoh Arena. Jordy Hiwula opened the scoring after just three minutes for the home side but Isaac Pearce levelled inside the final quarter to send the game to spot kicks.

Three of the first four spot kicks were missed, Amadou Bakayoko bucking the trend by netting for The Sky Blues. After Chris Camwell, Dayle Grubb, and Liam Kelly all scored it was up to Theo to extend the shootout, which he did calmly slotting to the goalkeeper's right from 12 yards. However, Dominic Hyam was then successful with Coventry's fifth penalty to win the shootout and secure the extra point.

Rovers return to league action on Saturday with a trip to Northampton Town in Sky Bet League Two.
