Spanish winger Sergi Canos gave his first reaction to becoming a Brentford player after arriving from Liverpool on transfer deadline day. He will be on loan at Griffin Park until January 2016.

“I’m feeling very good. I’m really happy to be here,” said Sergi. “I think it’s an ideal club to play for so I’m really happy.”

The 18-year-old is highly rated at parent club Liverpool, where he settled after spending his early career at FC Barcelona’s La Masia Academy in 2013.

“I think I’m more of a winger than a striker,” he told Bees PlayerHD. “But I don’t mind playing striker or on the wing. I think I’m faster but can also be strong against the centre-backs.”

Since his first game on Merseyside against Manchester United under-21s in 2013, he has enjoyed playing in England. He also takes comfort in the fact that his family are always close by.

“It’s been difficult but I have a lot of family living in Liverpool so they can come by train sometimes to visit,” said Sergi. “My family are opening a restaurant in Liverpool by Penny Lane called Gracias. When I have days off I will go to check everything but my father is the manager so it should be okay.”

Sergi found in Brentford somewhere that could offer him a high level of competitive football, while also help him to develop his game in the future.

“I’m really looking forward to start, play and learn,” he said. “All the team, and my teammates, are really nice and they have welcomed me really well.”
