To mark ten years of the Football League Awards, The Football League and Football Manager have teamed up to find a ‘Team of the Decade’ based on players that have starred for Football League clubs in that period.
As part of the selection process we can nominate up to four players to go forward to the judges – one goalkeeper, one defender, one midfielder and one forward.
The judges will base their selection of the final XI on performances by players in Football League matches.
We recently ran a poll to find the best Brentford goalkeeper of the last ten years with Wojciech Szczesny coming out on top, narrowly beating current number one David Button.
Michael Turner was voted Defender of the Decade securing 30 per cent of the votes cast ahead of Sam Sodje and Jake Bidwell.
Our focus now shifts to choosing who you think would be The Bees best midfielder of the last ten years and we have drawn up the following shortlist:
(Please note there is a minimum qualification of 50 games to be added to this shortlist)
501 appearances, 15 years and two promotions, one club man O'Connor has seen it all at Brentford since making his debut in February 2000.
The diminutive midfielder made more than 150 appearances for the club over six years helping The Bees reach the League One play-offs in 2005/06.
19 goals in 71 starts was impressive enough for a midfielder but at times Glenn appeared to be having a private Goal of the Season competition with a string of stunning strikes over his two years with the club.
A key part of the 2008/09 League Two winning side Marcus spent four years at Griffin Park making more than 160 appearances in League's Two and One.
Player of the Season in the 2008/09 League Two title winning season Sam spent four years with The Bees being employed on the left wing, right wing and left back, when needed.
So far the only non-UK and Ireland born player to have made more than 200 appearances for The Bees Toumani is in his fifth season at Griffin Park and earning rave reviews in the Sky Bet Championship.
After a slow start to life with Brentford Sam has established himself as a firm favourite making more than 150 appearances, winning Sky Bet League One player of the month for December 2013.
Supporters' Player of the Season in his first season Jonathan has now made more than 170 appearance for Brentford over four seasons.
Signed after a brief loan spell from Everton Adam made 100 appearances in TW8 winning the League One Player of the Year award for 2013/14, the Goal of the Year away in 2013/14 and being named in the League One Team of the Year as Brentford won promotion.
The man who scored the goal that got Brentford promoted from Sky Bet League One Alan has quickly established himself as a favourite at Griffin Park scoring 8 goals in 49 appearances.
