Lasse Vibe feels he can match Brentford’s ambitions after joining The Bees from Swedish Allsvenskan leaders IFK Göteborg.

The 28-year-old who scored 31 league goals in 56 matches for the Swedish side joined Brentford on a three-year deal yesterday for an undisclosed fee.

In his first interview with Bees Player after moving to England Lasse said that Brentford’s great interest in him was one of the main reasons he joined the West London side.

“It is fantastic to have joined Brentford,” said Brentford. It is a dream for me to play in England and it is a nice club. I chose Brentford because the club showed a great interest in me. In my career it has always been best for me to go where they really want me. This club showed a lot of interest in me and dedication to get me. It is a good level for me to play at in Europe. It is also a level where hopefully I can play well from day one. Hopefully I can achieve both my dreams and the club’s dreams.”

Lasse joins fellow Danish International Andreas Bjelland at Griffin Park something which he feels will make his move to England much easier.

The attacking player thinks that signings like Andreas and other new arrivals this summer such as Josh McEachran, Yoann Barbet and Philipp Hofmann show the ambition of the club and that is something he is keen to be part of.

“I have already talked to Andreas Bjelland and it is nice to have a friend around,” said Lasse. “That will help me and because he is also new here it will be easier for both of us. Signing myself and Andreas shows that Danish International players can play at this club and that this is a good club. This club has some good ambitions and that is the main reason why I chose Brentford over some other clubs.”

Lasse grew up watching English Football on Television in Denmark and thinks the English style will suit him.

As an attacking player Lasse said he always looks to play forwards and thinks Brentford’s style of play will bring the best out of him in that sense.

“When I was younger I only watched one or two games a week and that was from the Premier League,” said Lasse. “There wasn’t much Danish football on television to begin with so for me football has always been about English football. England is the country of football. In recent years I have been playing in the national team with some players who have played in the Sky Bet Championship and they have told me good things about the quality of the league. The level has been improving over the last couple of years.

“It will be tough physically and there will be a lot of running so hopefully I can adapt to that. From what I have heard from people around and Andreas the football is very interesting. I like to play the ball forward and from what I have been told about British football you play the ball forward if you have it. That will suit me and I want to create chances so it will help me adapt.”

Despite scoring 31 goals in the last season and a half at Göteborg Lasse said he is equally happy playing on the wing and wants to help his new team however he can.

“I had two great years in Sweden,” said Lasse. “I played mostly as a striker in a 4-4-2 but in the national team I have been playing on the wing. When I play as a striker I tend to score goals and that is what it is all about. Hopefully I can score goals here as well but I also like to create assists and help my teammates score goals. That is a bit more of what it is about when you are a winger but I am here to help how I can. I want to help my teammates and help the club to achieve its goals while achieving mine as well.”
