“I was really pleased to be back and I thought that I got a very nice reception,” Lasse told iFollow earlier this week. “It didn’t go unnoticed and I was very humbled by that. I am happy to be in and around the team again. It was the longest period that I have had out for ten or 12 years. It was just one of those things that happened and I had to rehab it for six to eight weeks. I have been pushing the last few weeks and I have felt good in training.”

As one of the senior members of the squad, Lasse said it was a balancing act between focussing on his recovery while also trying to be a positive influence around the group at Jersey Road as he fought to regain full fitness.

“To be honest you go quite selfish when you are injured,” revealed Lasse. “You are focussed on just getting back but at the same time you want to help the lads when they are around. Mentally it is a balance. I don’t want to concentrate too much on that because it will take my mind off doing what I have to do. You try to keep the positive spirit when the lads are around which is what I was able to do fortunately.”

Having missed nine matches, Lasse did make his return as a second-half substitute as The Bees recorded their first home win of the season on Saturday thanks to a 1-0 success over Millwall. Having come through a couple of B Team games and the win over The Lions, Lasse feels he is now ready for a starting spot back in Dean Smith’s XI.

“I had a good few chances on Saturday,” said Lasse. “On a different day one or two might have gone in. I thought that I came on and created something positive. That’s what I was told to do, that’s what I wanted to do and I feel good about it. With the international break I was a bit more fresh than maybe I would have been. I played 60 minutes for the B Team on Tuesday so I felt like I could have started. With the break there was no need to rush it so that’s why I felt, and hopefully looked, fresh. I feel sharp so I want to play as much as possible.”
