Kasey Clifford put in a player of the match performance on Sunday afternoon scoring four goals helping Brentford Women’s B Team overcome Forest Crusaders in the Greater London Women’s Football League Division One North.

The number 20 took her goal tally to 13 for this season after her four excellent strikes ensured the Bees continued their winning streak.

Speaking on the game, Clifford said: “I think we all played really well and worked hard in all areas of the pitch, if we want to win the league it’s important that we continue to play like this and keep winning.”

Josie Shand and an Abigail Claringbold double, gave the hosts a three-goal advantage before Clifford got her first of the game prior to half-time through a spectacular free-kick from 25 yards.

She followed this up with a second-half hat-trick ensuring her side the victory.

Clifford explained: “I will always do as much as I can to help the team, I feel that it’s my job as captain to lead by example, so I try to do this by the way I play.”

Her first goal after the break came on 49 minutes as the attacking midfielder showed nice skill to cut inside her defender on the left flank, before slotting the ball into the near post from just outside the area.

On 60 minutes Clifford sealed her hat trick through another astonishing free kick, this time from 30 yards out.

The skipper displayed her technical ability once again as she smashed her set piece into the top left corner.

Clifford then capped off an already perfect day as she got onto the end of a lovely lobbed pass from Betsy Harwood and placed the ball into the bottom corner on the half-volley.

Talking on her four goals, Clifford said: “I was very pleased with every one of my goals they were all powerful strikes coming from outside the box so I’m really happy.

“The most important thing was I was able to help the team get the win and that’s all that matters to me.”

The team’s top goal scorer went on to discuss the importance of her side continuing their winning streak in the coming weeks.

B Team Women

“We have won four games in a row now which is massive, but we need to make sure we keep this up.

"We want to win the league so it’s vital for us to have long periods of good form and get used to winning games.”
