Following Brentford Women’s First Team defeat at Dulwich Hamlet Reserves, Manager Karleigh Osborne was left disappointed by the lack of chances his side created.

With Brentford sitting one place below Dulwich in fourth, it was a great opportunity for the Bees to move up the LSE Regional WFL Division One North table and make a statement in their hopes of promotion this season. However, a first-half goal from the hosts saw Osborne’s side leave Dulwich Sports Club empty handed.

“We didn’t create enough clear cut chances and that’s what it came down to,” said the Brentford Manager. “First half I thought we were playing some good football, I know they got their goal and Lilly had to make some good saves but I thought we were comfortable within the game.”

Group v Dulwich

After an even opening half hour, the home team took the lead on 34 minutes when their right winger found some space inside the Brentford area and placed her shot neatly into the bottom corner.

Osborne continued: “Dulwich are a good team, our games with them are always intense, they have some good quality players so we knew it was going to be a tough match.”

The Bees began the second half looking for an equaliser but struggled to forge any goal scoring opportunities despite some positive passages of play.

“The girls were trying to get back into the game, I have never had to question their effort, they have always given their all for this club, I just think our decision making let us down and some of the girls could have been a little braver on the ball.”

Next weekend his side face another tough challenge as they come up against Abingdon United in the second qualifying round of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup.

“Abingdon will be a strong side so I’m looking for a better performance from the girls for us to win that game.

“It’s important that we bounce back now and prepare correctly for next weekend, I know today would have been a tough one to take but now it’s important that we don’t let this result knock our confidence.”
