Nikos Karelis played 90 minutes and scored in a behind closed doors match this afternoon. A Brentford team were involved in the game earlier today. Nikos played a full game in the centre of a front three and converted a low cross from livewire Joel Valencia inside the final 15 minutes.

That goal followed one from Josh Clarke, set up by Mathias Jensen, as The Bees drew the game 2-2. There were 90-minute outings for players including Valencia, Mathias Jensen, Dominic Thompson and Josh Dasilva while Dru Yearwood played 70. Brentford B defender Kane O’Connor and attacker Christian Tue Jensen were also involved while Arthur Reed and Ali Coote appeared as substitutes.

The Bees had the better of the contest and held a half time lead thanks to Clarke, who picked up a Mathias Jensen backheel as part of a one-two and fired in off the far post. The scores were levelled from the penalty spot before Karelis finished off a Valencia cross to restore Brentford’s lead. But the game was all square again moments later and finished that way.

Brentford will feel they should have won the contest. They dominated the first period with Christian Tue Jensen curling a free kick just wide and Karelis coming close on a few occasions while Luke Daniels was hardly tested. It was more even after the break but Mathias Jensen, who saw a shot cleared off the line, Ethan Pinnock and Dasilva could have won it at the death.

Brentford line-up: Daniels; Clarke, O’Connor, Pinnock, Thompson; Mathias Jensen, Yearwood (sub Reed 70 mins), Dasilva; Valencia, Karelis, Christian Tue Jensen (sub Coote 70 mins)

Subs (not used): Raya, Tsaroulla, Brissett
