Spanish attacking midfield player Jota has been recalled from a loan spell at Spanish La Liga side Sociedad Deportivo Eibar. The 25-year-old joined Eibar on a temporary basis for 18 months at the start of 2016. But under the terms of that deal Brentford had the option to recall Jota during the summer 2016 Transfer Window or the January 2017 Transfer Window. Eibar have been informed that Brentford are cutting the loan short and Jota will return to West London and train with The Bees ahead of the Emirates FA Cup Third Round tie against Eastleigh on Saturday, 7 January. He will not be back in time to play against Birmingham City in the Sky Bet Championship on Monday.
Jota – José Peleteiro Ramallo – joined Brentford in August 2014 from Real Club Celta de Vigo for an undisclosed fee. In his first season in English football he scored a series of spectacular goals, notching 11 times in 46 games in all competitions, but sustained an ankle injury on the opening day of the 2015/16 season that ruled him out for around four months. He made five appearances for The Bees last season but had to return to Spain at the start of the year to deal with a personal issue.
Prior to his loan switch Jota agreed an option to extend his contract. The 25-year-old is currently under contract until the end of the season but the Club can add a further year on to that deal. During his year at Eibar he played 18 La Liga matches, 13 last season, five this term. He also played two Copa del Rey matches this season, helping Eibar in to the last 16 of that competition.
