Jota returned to action on Saturday as a 61st-minute substitute in The Bees' 5-1 win over Eastleigh at Griffin Park. Taking some time out after training today, he spoke to brentfordfc.co.uk about his return to TW8.
"I feel good at Brentford," the 25-year-old said. "When we talked last month, when I was in Spain, I told the coaches I wanted to come back and now I'm happy to be here."
Asked about his time back in his home country, Jota clearly felt refreshed by the break but explained why he wanted to return. "Yes, the first half of the year was good," said Jota. "I played all the time and I enjoyed La Liga. But the second part of the year I didn't play a lot, I thought I needed a change and now I'm very happy to be in Brentford."
While on loan at Eibar he played 18 La Liga matches, 13 last season but only five this term. This is the first time he has had a chance to train under Dean Smith, something he has certainly taken to. "I enjoyed training," Jota said. "I came back last week and have enjoyed every session so far. I think Dean is a good manager for Brentford has a good squad of players."
Coming on in his favoured 23 shirt last weekend, he got a great reception from the home crowd at Griffin Park. He couldn't stress enough how much that meant to him. "It's always good when you come on and everyone loves you," he said. "I think Saturday was incredible for me because I really felt the love from the supporters and I hope I can be a better player in these months and make them celebrate more."
"Getting Chelsea is a big game for the Club and for the players. I hope we can make it a very good performance because for the team to win at Chelsea will be very difficult. They have a lot of players, they're from the top league but we have a very good squad. We can be the surprise in the FA Cup and I hope we can win at Stamford Bridge."
