The 25-year-old midfielder spoke to iFollow after the match to discuss the victory, the home fans and his hopes for a top six finish.

"Delighted with it,” said Josh. “Obviously we can’t slip up now, I think we are five points off it so we just need to keep winning. It was another massive result today like we had on Monday, we just need to keep going now onto Tuesday against Forest.”

After a cagey first half that saw very little in the way of clear cut chances, Josh admitted the squad were keen to get the breakthrough in the second half.

“It’s always hard against Ipswich,” he said. “They always line up man for man in midfield so it is hard for us to play our normal game, but we kept grinding away and got the penalty. Then we held on, which was massive.”

Brentford are still just five points away from sixth place and Josh thinks that helps the team to go unnoticed as they charge for the play-offs.

“I think so,” said Josh. “There’s no real pressure on us because everyone else is looking at Millwall, Bristol City and Sheffield United. Who knows what can happen, we just need to play our own game and hopefully we can sneak in there.

“Everyone obviously wants to play in the Premier League, and we are all young hungry lads. We all want to do that so the desire in the dressing room is massive.”

The crowd roared until the very end at Griffin Park on Saturday afternoon, helping their side across the line. Josh paid tribute to the home fans.

“I think they’ve been good all season,” said Josh. “Even when we scored the penalty and I heard the cheer. I haven’t heard that for a long, long time when we’ve scored. So yes, I want them all to get behind us the whole way.”

Before the game kicked off, fans joined the staff and players from both sides in a minute’s applause in memory of Ray Wilkins. The former Chelsea man, who had a real impact on Josh as a youngster with The Blues, passed away earlier this week.

“It was nice,” said Josh. “Obviously, I was absolutely heart-broken when I heard the news a few days ago. I could believe it because he helped me out massively for two seasons and it was sad. So yes, I enjoyed that today.”

With Nottingham Forest now the focus on Tuesday night, Josh admitted it was nice to be able to carry the momentum forward so quickly.

“The games are coming thick and fast now and we are in good form so we just want to keep playing game-by-game. We’ll hopefully go there, take three points and see where that takes us."
