New Brentford loanee Jon Toral said that all the positive things he had been told about Brentford have been proved to be true as he begins a season-long loan spell at Griffin Park.

The 19-year-old midfielder joined The Bees from Arsenal on loan last Friday.

The Spanish Under 17 International joined The Gunners from Spanish giants Barcelona in 2011 and has been a regular feature in Arsenal’s Youth Team and Under 21s in the last two seasons.

Jon joins fellow Arsenal Academy product Nico Yennaris at Griffin Park and he said that Nico’s positive description of the club helped him to decide on coming to Brentford.

Speaking to Bees Player from the club’s Jersey Road Training Ground Jon said that all the early signs are that he has made the right decision in joining The Bees.

“I spoke to Arsenal about the possibility of going on loan and they talked about Brentford,” said Jon.

“For me the Championship is a great league to learn in and to get experience in.

“They spoke to me about Brentford and said it was a great place to live in London.

“Nico Yennaris talked to me about the club because I know him from Arsenal.

“I have worked with Nico and played with Nico for the last three seasons at Arsenal.

“He is a great friend of mine and he has helped me a lot.

“I am very thankful for that.

“They talked so well about Brentford that I decided it was the best place for me to get some minutes and to learn.

“Everyone that I spoke to said that they play very good football.

“I can see from just training here for two days everything they said is true.”

This is Jon’s first spell away from the Emirates Stadium and he said he is looking forward to learning about himself, both as a footballer and a person, in a new environment.

Injury meant that Jon missed a large part of the 2012/13 season and the start of the 2013/14 season and he is keen to make up for lost time.

With such a packed schedule in the Sky Bet Championship, The Bees are currently in a run of seven games in 21 days, Jon is hopeful of seeing plenty of First-Team action this season.

“I want to gain some experience and gain some football minutes in a professional league,” said Jon.

“The Championship will be a very competitive league.

“I want to gain some experience and learn a lot from the lads, from the coaches, from the league and from everyone.

“I want to get that to make me a better player and a better person.

“I missed a lot of football when I was injured so I am just happy to be fit and happy to be able to train every day.

“I am looking forward to be playing every Saturday and I am excited for the season.

“There is a lot of football to play this year and a lot of chances to play.

“I just want to enjoy every minute of the games I play.”
