Speaking to iFollow Brentford at the end of the season, Jarvis felt he made some big strides this campaign but believes there is much more to come. “It’s been a good season with good development,” said Jarvis. “I have improved as a player and learned more. My leadership skills have gone up as well so I am pretty pleased about my season. I feel like I have become more of a leader. I hope I can keep developing that and get better as a player. The goals too were good for me; it was nice to get off the mark and then back it up with two more.”
That progress was rewarded last week with a one-year contract extension through to the summer of 2019 which Jarvis admitted he was more than happy to sign.
Along the way this season, the B Team have beaten a host of top clubs from around Europe. Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Anderlecht, Rangers, Benfica and Porto were all swept aside as Kevin O’Connor’s side proved themselves to be a force both at home and abroad. Jarvis firmly believes that having such a varied games programme is one of the big reasons why he has been able to develop as a player over the past 12 months.
“The games programme has been really, really good and a positive experience,” admitted Jarvis. “I am happy about those fixtures and the fact that we are starting to get some wins now. It’s been really good for our development. I have been to more countries than ever before this year which is a great experience both on and off the pitch.”
