Jan Holldack said he has realised a dream after joining Brentford's Development Squad on a two-year contract from German Bundesliga side FC Koln.

The 19-year-old midfielder, who played 24 matches for FC Koln’s Under-19s last season, feels his game is one that will be very suited to playing in England.

The German Under-18 international told Bees Player after he joined: “It is my dream to live in London and to play for Brentford because England is a footballing country. It is perfect for me. Brentford is a very nice club. It is a very interesting club to join.”

“English football is the best and England is the mother of football. English football is good for me because I am an English player. My coaches all say that I play like an English player so it is best for me to play in England and Brentford is perfect for me.”

Jan worked his way through the ranks at FC Koln in recent years and has been a mainstay of The German club’s Under-17s and Under-19s.

The midfielder helped the club to finish second in the Under-19 Junior Bundesliga West last season and is looking to bring his attacking talents to England when he joins up with The Bees.

“I am an attacking midfield player and I only look to play forward,” said Jan.

“I am right footed but I have a very good left foot so it is no problem for me to use both.

“It is a big step up for me but I am looking forward to it.”
