Jack Warburton has signed a short term contract to be part of Brentford’s Development Squad.

The 21-year-old midfield player, son of Brentford Manager Mark Warburton, has signed a deal to keep him at Griffin Park until the end of the current season.

Jack came through the youth ranks at Watford before moving to Leicester City at the age of 17.

He completed his scholarship in 2011 and turned professional but left to move to Canada.

Jack signed for Hamilton Rage FC, which became Kitchener-Waterloo United FC, who play in the fourth tier of the American and Canadian soccer pyramid.

He won a host of Player of the Year awards at KW in 2013 and completed the 2014 season before coming back to the UK.

Jack spent the end of 2014 on trial with The Bees, playing two Under-21 Professional Development League games for Brentford’s Development Squad, as well in behind closed doors friendlies.

He signed his contract when the Transfer Window opened and will now be part of the Development Squad group, managed by Lee Carsley, until the end of the season.

“He has also shown us his versatility and play at right back.

“He has impressed in training and in matches and earned his contract.

“Lee Carsley, the coaching staff and scouts are always on the lookout for players to improve the quality in the Development Squad group.

“Jack will do that, he is a good passer of the ball and understands the way we want to play.

“He comes to us having played a lot of First Team football at a decent level in Canada, he had a good Academy education on and off the pitch and he can develop further.”
