Jack Warburton said Brentford’s Development Squad were disappointed not to take three points against Millwall in the Under-21 Professional Development League Two South match on Tuesday afternoon, especially after taking the lead.

The Bees drew 1-1 with their South London opponents on a windy afternoon earlier this week.

Jermaine Udumaga put Brentford in front in the first half and they had the better of the majority of the match.

But Millwall levelled on the break and took a share of the spoils.

Jack played 60 minutes as he is working his way back from injury.

He said The Bees played well but weren’t able to create and take the chances to give them all the points.

“I thought our performance was good,” said Jack.

“We were very good in the first 45 minutes, we kept the ball well, opened up the midfield but again we weren’t quite able to create chances in the final third.

“We did well considering the conditions and the pitch but it was disappointing not to get the three points.

“We came in at half time and spoke about continuing to attack and looking for more goals.

“We didn’t want to sit back we wanted a second, third and fourth.

“It was a shame it didn’t come.”

The match was played on a tricky playing surface.

The ball did not always run as would be expected and a strong wind blowing from one goal to the other made longer passes difficult.

“It was the same for both teams,” said Jack.

“We dealt with it well but couldn’t finish them off.

“That was the disappointing thing.

“Throughout the week we talk about creating chances and finishing teams off but we only came away with a point.

“We created chances with the wind against us in the first half.

“Their keeper made a few good saves but we conceded a sloppy goal.

“I am not sure that we could have done any more apart from putting the ball in the back of the net.”

Jack played 60 minutes a week after completing 45 in a win over Ipswich Town.

The midfield man is on his way back from an ankle problem and said he now felt fine but would see how it reacted after training.

He said he was hopefully of being available to play 90 minutes next week, when The Bees face Millwall in their next Under-21 Professional Development League Two South match at The Den.

“I have had an ankle problem,” Jack explained.

“It has been ongoing – I would come back in to training, get a tackle or strike the ball and I would get pain.

“I took time out to get it settled and then progressively come back in to the games.

“I played 45 minutes last week and an hour today.

“It was good.

“Conditions were difficult – it was very wet last week but felt fine on the ankle and today I played an hour and it was strong.

“I hope to get the full 90 last week.

“We will see how it feels after training.”

Jack has been with Brentford since January, signing until the end of the season after a successful trial.

The Bees had a tough start to the season at Development Squad level but have won four and drawn one of their last six games to climb the table.

Jack said Development Squad Manager Lee Carsley had put faith in his group and believed they could continue picking up results

“When I first came in we were playing nice football but not getting results,” said the midfield man.

“Recently we have won four or five games and been getting points without necessarily playing great stuff.

“We now want good performances and three points.

“We just want to keep going.

“We train as a group and Lee has put faith in us.

“We are pleased with what we are doing and want to take it on to the field.”

Jack’s joined The Bees after leaving Kitchener-Waterloo United FC, who play in the fourth tier of the American and Canadian soccer pyramid, late in 2014.

His current contract runs until the end of the season.

“I am enjoying it here,” he said.

“It is nice to be back in full time football and I have settled in well.

“In the last two months I want to give it everything I have got.

“We will then see what happens.”
