Ivan, who has 29 goals to his name so far in his debut second tier season, was up against the Norwich City duo of Teemu Pukki and Emi Buendia for the Player of the Season prize at tonight's virtual ceremony. And it was The Canaries' Argentine winger Buendia, with 14 goals and 17 assists in 37 outings who took the main award.

There was, however, a spot for Ivan in the second tier's Best XI.

Last summer's arrival from Peterborough United took to the second tier instantly, netting nine goals in his opening nine games, form that won him the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month award for October. The goals have kept on coming for the 25-year-old as he became the third Brentford striker in as many seasons to register 25 strikes in the second tier, following Neal Maupay and Ollie Watkins.

Ivan, who on Tuesday was named the EFL Player of the Year at the London Football Awards, has also contributed ten assists this term, taking his total goal contribution to 39, eight more than anyone else in the Championship. The former Newcastle United man needs just one more goal to become the first man since 1978 to register 30 league goals for The Bees, and only the sixth of all-time.
