An extended Mikkel Damsgaard interview features in the matchday programme for Saturday's Premier League game between Brentford and Manchester United at Gtech Community Stadium.
The Danish midfielder discusses a life-changing summer where he got married and became a father for the first time, his impressive 2024/25 campaign, and building relationships with his new team-mates in the Bees' attacking unit.
“I just have a big appreciation for life and everything that is going right," said Damsgaard.
"I’m enjoying life at the moment, playing football, I just got married, just had a kid; so life is just good for me right now, and I’m just appreciating that.
“It’s really surreal coming home to him [his son] every day. It’s like your life has changed from one day to another so it’s really crazy, but it’s a very good time and I’ve really enjoyed it so far.
“Obviously it’s a big adaptation you have to make, but I feel like I’m really comfortable with it.”
He added: “Before he was here, I was getting some advice and talking about it.
“As a football player, you’re very used to working with people who are older and have kids, so it’s always been good to speak with people about it and now finally become a dad myself.
“I spoke a lot with Mathie [Jensen] about it. He has three kids now and this is my first one, so I speak a lot with him about it.
“We’re the last two Danish now! We speak a lot in the club, and it’s been good to have each other. It’s always nice having those guys around a team that you’re close with.”
