Brentford defensive duo Nathan Collins and Kristoffer Ajer are both relishing Saturday’s trip to Goodison Park to face Everton.

15th on 35 points, the Bees sit one place and two points above this weekend’s opponents and Collins knows he and the side will have to be fully focused if they are to build on last weekend’s 5-1 win over Luton Town.

“No matter when you go to face Everton away from home, it will always be a challenge,” he said.

“The fans are always a big thing for them at home, but we have a job to do, and we’ll approach it in the same mentality that we always do.

“We want to go there to win at this important stage of the season.”

The Bees were on the wrong end of a 3-1 scoreline against Sean Dyche’s men in the reverse fixture earlier in the campaign when the two sides met at Gtech Community Stadium.

And Ajer knows that Brentford will have to perform better than they did on that day in September: "The home game was a tough day for us. You’ll always get a few bumps like that over the course of the season; we know we have to be more competitive than we were then.”

Collins added: “It feels a long time ago, but I don’t think we were at our best that day and of course we want to correct that.

“Everything’s changed since then, we have a fully and fresh squad to go there with. We’re ready.”
