Former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has discussed how it will feel to face his former club - who he played 492 times for across a 12-year spell - when the Premier League champions travel to west London to face Brentford this weekend.
The midfielder admitted it will be a "bit strange" going up against the side he won seven major trophies with, but added: "It’s definitely something that I’m really looking forward to doing".
Read the full interview with Henderson in Saturday's matchday programme, available in and around Gtech Community Stadium, where the 36-year-old also discussed his former manager, Jürgen Klopp, and his ex-colleagues, some of whom he will be up against at the Gtech.
"Jürgen had the biggest influence on me as a player," said Henderson
“That was down to his intensity and what he was just constantly demanding of me. He was like that with a lot of us - it was only maybe one or two who got away with it!
“But that’s why we were so successful under him, and we won everything that we won.”
He added: “Football’s not always easy and plain-sailing. But I was very fortunate to have good leaders and good people around me in that squad, especially in the tough times.
“At a club like Liverpool, you’re expected to win all the time. So, when you’re not, you need those good people around you and, thankfully, I had such good team-mates.
“That was one of the best things about Liverpool: I know I wore the armband on a Saturday or Sunday, but there were four or five other captains in the dressing room alongside me. That was a big part of the success we had.”
