Nathan Collins and Mark Flekken – Republic of Ireland 2 Netherlands 1

Two Brentford team-mates faced each other on the international stage on Sunday, as Nathan Collins’ Republic of Ireland took on Mark Flekken’s Netherlands in a Euro 2024 qualifier.

Norwich City forward Adam Idah gave Ireland a dream start with a fourth-minute penalty following Virgil van Dijk's handball.

But the Dutch hit back through Cody Gakpo and Wout Weghorst to condem the Republic to a fourth defeat in five qualifiers.

It leaves manager Stephen Kenny's side six points adrift of the second-placed Dutch having played a game more.
