Henrik Dalsgaard had a week to remember as he became our most capped player while at the Club and set up the goal which secured Denmark’s place in next summer’s European Championships. Having been rested for their 6-0 win over Gibraltar on Friday, the 30-year-old’s cross was converted by Martin Braithwaite as Denmark got the point they needed from Monday's trip to Dublin after a 1-1 draw. Christian Nørgaard was an unused substitute in both matches.

Another player celebrating Euro 2020 Qualification with their nation was Pontus Jansson. The central defender sat out Sweden’s win over Romania on Friday before captaining his nation to a 3-0 win over Faroe Islands on Monday as Sweden went through second in Group F behind Spain. The appearance was Pontus’ 22nd for his nation.

Africa Cup of Nations qualifying got underway this month with Julian Jeanvier playing both games as Guinea began with a draw in Mali and a home win over Namibia to sit top of the early Group A table. They were Julian’s third and fourth caps for his nation. Also in Africa, Kamohelo Mokotjo won his 21st cap for South Africa as they beat Sudan on Sunday, having missed Thursday’s defeat in Ghana.

In Under-21 European Championship Qualifying, Bryan Mbeumo earned his fourth and fifth caps for France off the bench as they won one and lost one this week. Having beaten Georgia on Friday, Les Bleuets dropped their first points of the campaign after a 3-1 loss to new group leaders Switzerland on Tuesday.

Ellery Balcombe is still yet to earn his first England cap after remaining an unused substitute as the Young Lions kept up their perfect record so far in Group C with a 3-0 win over Albania. They were, however, beaten 2-1 by Holland in a friendly on Tuesday night with the goalkeeper again watching on.

Another side to keep up a 100 per cent qualifying record were Denmark. Mads Bech Sorensen missed Tuesday’s 5-1 win over Malta after being sent off during their 3-2 win against Ukraine on Friday but Mads Roerslev played both games to take his tally of caps to four, one more than his namesake, Soresen. There was also a Denmark Under-21 debut for Japhet Sery Larsen during that win over Malta.

Elsewhere, Patrik Gunnarsson earned his seventh cap for Iceland on Saturday as they were beaten 3-0 by Italy while David Titov was an unused substitute during Latvia’s 2-0 defeat to Russia. The results leave Iceland third in Group A while Latvia prop up Group E. Jaakko Oksanen earned his eighth Finland cap at Under-21 level as they were beaten 4-1 in Romania to drop to third in Group H.

In Under-19 European Championship Qualifying, Joe Adams played all three games for Wales, contributing a goal and an assist during their win over Poland, as they topped their pool. It was the same story for Gustav Mogensen as Denmark went through in top spot, but Simon Andersson and Fredrik Hammar are out following Sweden’s defeat to Ukraine on Tuesday. Simon played all three games for the Swedes but Fredik’s red card during their opener against Slovenia ended his participation early.

The appearances took Joe’s tally of caps at Under-19 level to 11. Gustav now has nine appearances for Denmark while Simon and Fredrik have seven and five respectively at this level for Sweden.

Jan Žambůrek and Czech Republic Under-19 booked their passage through last month so instead had friendly action to look forward to this week. Jan netted his first goal at Under-19 level during Friday’s 3-3 draw with Holland and then went on to win his seventh cap as they beat Mexico 2-1 on Saturday.
