Aaron Hickey helped Scotland to a fourth-successive European Championship qualifying victory in the rain at Hampden Park on Tuesday night.

Callum McGregor smashed Scotland in front against Georgia after just six minutes, moments before the game was suspended due to a waterlogged pitch. Following a nearly two-hour delay, the teams returned and Scott McTominay wrapped up the win with a goal two minutes after half-time.

Hickey played the full 90 minutes for a Scotland side who already look destined to compete in Germany next summer, sitting eight points clear at the top of Group A.

In the same group, Kristoffer Ajer wasn’t involved in Norway’s 3-1 win over Cyprus. Erling Haaland scored twice to help Norway to their first win in this qualifying campaign.

In Group H on Monday, Zanka started and Mikkel Damsgaard played 30 minutes in Denmark’s 1-1 draw away to Slovenia.

Andraz Sporar gave the home side the advantage midway through the first half before Rasmus Hojlund equalised just before half-time.

That was how it stayed, leaving the Danes fourth in their group, two points off second, after four matches.

Thomas Strakosha was an unused substitute for Albania as they picked up another European Championship Qualifying win on Tuesday night. The 3-1 win in Faroe Islands lifted Albania up to second in their group after three matches.

It was a frustrating start to the Under-21 European Championships for Kevin Schade and Germany on Thursday night as they missed two penalties in their 1-1 draw with 10-man Israel.

Things started badly for Germany as Youssoufa Moukoko was denied by Daniel Peretz from the spot after just three minutes. The two sides then traded goals through Dor David Turgeman and Yann Aurel Bisseck in a six-minute spell midway through the first half.

Eden Kartsev saw red for Israel just before the break but, despite their advantage and the award of a second penalty, this one missed by Jessic Ngankam, Germany could not find an opening-night winner.

Next up for Germany is Czechia in Batumi on Sunday evening.
