Jon De Souza's Youth Team fell just short of qualifying for the final of the IMG Boys Invitational Cup after being held 1-1 by hosts IMG Academy last night.
The Bees needed a win to secure passage to the final after a win and a defeat in their opening two games.
Brentford started the game much the better and should have gone ahead early on but they were denied twice in the opening 10 minutes by home goalkeeper Sam Foster.
The hosts then struck against the run of play as Christian Boorom scored midway through the first-half, pouncing on a defensive slip by The Bees.
The opening goal didn't change the balance of the game with Brentford continuing to create chances with a front three of Herson Rodrigues Alves, Kingsley Eshun and Joshua Bohui lookng particularly dangerous.
Bohui, who was called into an England Under-16 training group last week, levelled matters for The Bees seven minutes before the break cutting in from the left and firing home from 12 yards.
The second-half followed a similar path to the first-half but neither side could find a decisive second-goal.
The result means that Brentford finish third in their pool at the Super Group and will play off for 5th place later this afternoon.
That match is against the US Men's National Team Under 17s and kicks off at 6 15pm UK time, 1 15pm local time.
After today's defeat Academy Director Ose Aibangee spoke and he said: "We were all over them but couldn't put the ball in the goal.
"They scored an absolute worldie that he swung his foot at and it went straight in the top corner from 20 yards.
"The boys are down but in terms of how they played, they played some really good stuff."
All games at the 2014 IMG Cup are streamed live and those games are available to replay as well.
