Former Arsenal defender Ilias Chatzitheodoridis is the latest player to sign for Brentford B. The 18-year-old left back signed a one-year contract yesterday, Friday 6 August, and completing a medical this morning. He has been on trial with the B Team during pre-season and will now become a permanent member of the squad.

Ilias completed a two-year scholarship at Arsenal this summer. He had been at the Premier League side’s academy in Greece while playing for a local team. He played for The Gunners in the UEFA Youth League and the Under-21 Premier League and has spent the last two weeks with the B Team, earning a contract.

Rob Rowan, Head of Football Operations, said: “We are pleased to welcome Ilias to the Club. He has impressed our technical staff during his trial period and has deserved his chance to sign with us. He is an intelligent footballer who has had a very good education at Arsenal over the past few years.

“We are trying to developing a strong B Team squad and Ilias will have to show his qualities in training and in games. He is ready for that challenge and I look forward to seeing him progress over the next year.”
