Henrik Johansson believes Brentford can be the club to take him to the next level as he signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with The B Team at Griffin Park on Tuesday. The 18-year-old Swedish Youth International impressed during an extended trial from Halmstads Bollklubb before Chirstmas and revealed that he is looking forward to getting started at Jersey Road.

Speaking to Bees Player after signing, Henrik said: “It feels really good to have signed. I think I will have a really good time here and it will be a lot of fun. Everything felt really good when I was here on trial. The players took really good care of me so it feels good to be here.”

The winger has football royalty in his family, Henrik is the grandson of two-time World Cup winner Garrincha, considered by many to be the finest dribbler in the history of football. That famous relative isn’t something Henrik likes to dwell too much on but admits that he sees some of The Little Wren in how he plays the game.

“I don’t really talk about it that much because I don’t want it to affect my football or my life but it is always in the back of my mind so I do think about it,” said Henrik. “I like to think there’s a little bit of him in how I play. I am an offensive player who is technical and likes to score goals.”

Henrik will meet up with his teammates again tomorrow to head to Germany and Denmark as The B Team embark on their European Tour. After a match against Bayern Munich in Germany on Saturday, Brentford B move on to Denmark for the Kai Thor Cup next weekend something Henrik is really looking forward to.

“This feels like a great next step for me and it is a really good club,” said Henrik. “I played against only Swedish teams during my time in Sweden to going to play Bayern Munich this week is crazy.”
