Brentford fans have been reminded of the ways they can report any behaviour seen at Griffin Park that is contrary to the Club’s values of diversity and inclusion with a special number now introduced to report any issues as they happen. As Kick It Out, football’s equality and inclusion organisation, celebrated its 25th anniversary in the summer, Mark Devlin, Brentford FC Chief Executive, delivered a message reflecting on how being inclusive and welcoming is what makes the Club what it is. And with a third of the season now gone, supporters have been reminded of how they can play their part.

The Club is committed to removing all hateful behaviour inside Griffin Park and there are multiple ways fans can report anything they see. Kick It Out have a helpline and email address and there is a now a Brentford FC telephone number for reporting acts contrary to the Club’s values of diversity and inclusion. The number is 07493 865622 and it will be monitored live at matches, so such behaviour can be stamped out.

Mark Devlin, Brentford FC Chief Executive, said: “As I said in the summer, Brentford is proud to represent every part of our diverse community and is one of the most inclusive and welcoming clubs in the country. We welcome and include anyone, regardless of their race, religion, gender or sexuality.  We will not compromise on our values and have worked with our stewarding teams this season to reiterate that Griffin Park is a place where any hateful behaviour is not permitted.

“I would remind our fans to use any of the reporting mechanisms if you see or hear racist, sexist, homophobic, or other behaviour of hate or division. In the first instance we would encourage you to report it to any of our matchday stewards if you can. Collecting immediate evidence gives us the best chance to remove anyone who does not meet our values and that is why we introduced our new number for reporting incidents – 07493 865622. Barney McGhee, Brentford FC Safety Officer, added: “Thankfully, we have very few incidents of hateful behaviour inside Griffin Park and it is a great place for families to watch football. But we brief all our stewards to be aware of things that can be said or done and we have worked with Kick It Out and others to ensure our staff are best prepared to deal with anything that happens. Fans can also assist making Griffin Park and our new stadium places where everyone can feel comfortable watching football.”
