The Futsal Bees are in action today in The FL Trust Futsal League South East Division.
The ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams will make the now familiar trip around the North Circular Road to SportHouse Barking with this week’s fixtures also being used as preparation for the Soccer AM Plate second round next Tuesday.
Since the last match day, where the A team conceded a goal 40 seconds from the buzzer and the B team drew 2-2 v Chelsea, the Futsal Bees hosted their College counterparts from the Academy’s education programme in a friendly.
Both Luis Melville and Dan Wright from Brentford FC’s Academy agreed it had been a worthwhile exercise and it is hoped that the Futsal scholars will play an 11-a-side friendly before the end of the season.
The squad also visited the ‘Box that Rocks’ otherwise known as The Copper Box on Friday 27th April to watch England play Futsal against Sweden.
Luke Ballinger, England Futsal player, also posed with the squad on the court after the match before going on to score a hat trick against the Swedes the next day.
Also making his debut for the London F.A. Futsal Centre of Excellence Squad was Bees Scholar Brad Scott in a game against the Eastern F.A. squad.
Played in front of 1400 fans Brad managed to get on the score sheet.
This afternoon the ‘A’ team face Crawley Town, who have conceded 89 goals to date, and Brentford will hope that this week’s attacking sessions in training will pay off.
The ‘B’ team can still mathematically reach the end of the season play-offs but cannot afford to drop any more points if that is to be achieved.
They play Peterborough and will be full of confidence after securing a draw against Chelsea despite being 2-0 down after 4 minutes.
Next week Brentford FC Futsal Club will be travelling up to Birmingham International Futsal Arena for The Soccer AM Plate-2nd round with Preston North End and Mansfield vying for a place in the quarter-finals.
