The two side’s last competitive match was against each other in May but how much of a different Terriers team is it likely to be?

It will be a massively different Huddersfield Town side. They have brought in 12 new faces to the senior squad since the summer. It is a whole new ball game at the John Smith’s Stadium. The result in May still smarts and they will be wanting to make amends for that. It has been the busiest pre-season that I can remember with six players coming in from the UK and six from abroad.

What pieces of transfer business over the summer have got the Huddersfield fans talking?

Town have paid a club record fee, believed to be around £1.8 million, for Christopher Schindler, a centre-back from 1860 Munich, and he looks a touch of class at the heart of the defence. Left-back Chris Lowe has also come in from 1. FC Kaiserslautern and he is a really attacking left-back, the sort that David Wagner likes. In the midfield Jack Payne has joined from Southend United to play in the number 10 role. He has looked very exciting in pre-season. Aaron Mooy and Kasey Palmer have also come in on loan from Manchester City and Chelsea. Aaron came here very highly regarded and has underlined that in pre-season while Kasey was part of the England Under-21 team that won the Toulon Tournament this summer.

Which players should Brentford fans watch out for on Saturday?

Nahki Wells is a slight injury concern and he has to prove his fitness. Given that he might start Elias Kachunga up front if Wells doesn’t make it. Wells has a big role to play this season. He is the only one who is a proven goalscorer. The rest of the team have to back him up. That has been a concern in pre-season as we haven’t scored that many goals.

What do the fans make of the man in charge, David Wagner?

David Wagner has improved the quality of football so much since he came in because it became a bit stale under Chris Powell. He will be given time to get it right results wise because the Chairman, Dean Hoyle, is behind him. Dean is happy to give the new players time to adapt and knows that they will need time to gel.  The fans are not expecting too much. They want to see the team give everything and are not expecting instant success.

What is the realistic ambition for Huddersfield this season?

A successful season would be to finish in the top half. It is a little bit of a step into the unknown this season. They have spent around £5 million this summer which is an awful lot of money. There is a lot of optimism around the place as they have sold 15,023 season tickets at reduced prices so the team will be playing in front of much bigger crowds. This is the fifth season back in the Championship and each of the previous ones has been a battle to stay up but the aim this season is to get enough points to be safely mid table and maybe top half. It is a tough start to the season as after Brentford Town have Newcastle United and Aston Villa away. The one stated objective from the club is to improve on last season.

Prediction for Saturday?

There will be one goal in it, in favour of Huddersfield Town so I think either 1-0 or 2-1 to Town.
