Brentford have teamed up with Fantasy Football Scout to help bring you hints, tips and advice during the 2025/26 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) season.

Scout will be using their expertise to provide info, advice and Gameweek tips which may prove useful in ensuring you sit on top of your mini-leagues.

Best of the Bees

Monday’s Gameweek 8 fixture against West Ham was a dominant performance. Impressively, of Brentford's 22 attempts on goal, 20 came from inside the box.

Centre-forward Igor Thiago (£6.1m) registered the opening goal of the match. An accurate long pass from Yehor Yarmoliuk (£5.0m) put Kevin Schade (£7.0m) clean through, and he selflessly squared it to the Brazilian. The shot was saved, yet still trickled over the line.

In fact, Thiago thought he’d quickly grabbed another during first-half stoppage-time, only for VAR to declare him offside.

In the dying moments of the game, Keane Lewis-Potter (£4.9m) ran onto Caoimhín Kelleher’s (£4.5m) long kick and pulled the ball back for Mathias Jensen (£4.9m) to smash into the top corner.

Also worth a mention are Dango Ouattara (£6.0m), who looked bright all night and has the potential to be a great FPL differential, and Nathan Collins (£4.9m), who registered defensive contribution points for his FPL managers on Monday evening.

The Spotlight

However, right-back Michael Kayode (£4.5m) deserves a section to himself. The 21-year-old created seven chances. It was this that secured him the maximum three bonus points rather than either goalscorer.

Perhaps the former Fiorentina man feels aggrieved at not ending the encounter with an attacking return, but he still contributed a clean sheet for his owners.

It now means that Kieran Trippier (£5.0m) and Pedro Porro (£5.6m) are the only defenders to have set up more efforts, while Everton’s Jake O’Brien (£5.0m) is the sole name to have taken more throw-ins.

Kayode’s long throws often cause penalty area carnage, and these also offer him a unique route to points if one of them is converted.

Best of the Rest

Elsewhere, Reece James (£5.4m) racked up 18 points for Chelsea at Nottingham Forest, due to a goal, assist, clean sheet and three bonus points.

Joining Nordi Mukiele (£4.0m) on 17 was Jean-Philippe Mateta (£7.6m), who netted a hat-trick against Bournemouth. The latter entered Gameweek 8 as a recent underachiever who’d spurned quite a few big chances.

Interestingly no midfielder exceeded 12 points in Gameweek 8, however 10 defenders reached double-digit tallies.

Erling Haaland‘s (£14.7m) quickfire brace at home to Everton means he has now scored 23 goals in 13 matches for club and country.

In Demand

Yet the player currently ahead of Haaland and Mateta for Gameweek 9 purchases is Nick Woltemade (£7.4m). He scored against Brighton, taking the Newcastle forward to four goals in five league starts, and is now proving popular with FPL managers.

Meanwhile, popular sales include Mohamed Salah (£14.4m), who is now on three consecutive blanks, while João Pedro’s (£7.5m) last five outings have seen him have just two shots inside the box and nothing on target.

Captaincy

It’s unwise to oppose Haaland these days, though managers may see a trip to the improved Aston Villa as something worth going against.

Picking a Chelsea asset against Sunderland, like João Pedro or Enzo Fernández (£6.7m), could be a path to take, whereas Antoine Semenyo (£8.0m) will be at home to Nottingham Forest.
