Four Brentford players have been namd in a Sky Bet Championship Team of the Season announced by The Guardian newspaper. The Bees had their best season since 1947 in 2019/20, finishing in third place in the second tier and reacing the Sky Bet Championship Play-Off Final. And that success earned players special recognition.
The newspaper has chosen a team, along with a Head Coach or Manager, from each of the three EFL divisions. The Championship team included five representatives from champions Leeds United, including boss Marcelo Bielsa, and one each from Fulham, West Bromwich Albion and Queens Park Rangers. The rest of the team came from Brentford.
Those included were centre back Ethan Pinnock and defender Rico Henry. Alongside them were Ollie Watkins, who scored 26 goals in all competitions, and fellow attacker Saïd Benrahma, who scored 17 times, including two hat-tricks. The rest of the team, along with the reasons for inclusion, can be seen here.
