Tariqe Fosu has joined Stoke City on loan.

The 26-year-old completed the move to the Sky Bet Championship side earlier today. He will spend the season with Stoke and will be available for their match against Middlesbrough tomorrow.

Tariqe has been with Brentford since January 2020. He joined us from Oxford United and was part of the squad that reached the Sky Bet Championship play-off final in the extended 2019/20 season.

He was then involved as we won promotion to the top flight the following year.

Tariqe was affected by injuries in our first Premier League season and only made three appearances. He made his top flight debut in March against Leicester City and also featured in two Carabao Cup ties. He has played 63 games for Brentford in all competitions and scored five goals.

Phil Giles, Brentford Director of Football, said: "Tariqe made a big contribution during our promotion season but hasn't played enough during the last 12 months. Therefore, a loan to Stoke is the perfect solution to get him back playing regular minutes at a level where we know he can excel. We wish him well during the loan and will review his situation at the end of the season."

Tariqe came through the youth ranks at Reading and made one second tier appearance for them before leaving for Charlton Athletic, where he spent two seasons. He had six months at Oxford United, scoring ten times in 33 games before he was signed by the Bees. He also had loan spells at Fleetwood Town, Colchester United and Accrington Stanley earlier in his career.

The attacker won an England Under-18 cap but chose to represent Ghana at full international level, making his debut in October 2020. Tariqe scored on his second international appearance and has played four games for Ghana so far. His one international goal puts him in elite company as one of only 15 men to have scored goals for their countries while on our books.
