Mads Bidstrup has joined Red Bull Salzburg on a permanent transfer.

The Denmark Under-21 midfielder makes the move to the Austrian side for an undisclosed fee.

Bidstrup has been with Brentford since July 2020 and made 14 first-team appearances during his time in TW8.

Six of his outings came during the 2020/21 Sky Bet Championship campaign, and he was on the pitch at the final whistle when the Bees won promotion to the Premier League, beating Swansea City in the play-off final.

Bidstrup made eight further appearances for the club during the 2021/22 season, including four as a substitute in the Premier League.

The 22-year-old spent the second half of the 2021/22 campaign on loan at Nordsjaelland.

He re-joined Nordsjaelland in the summer of 2022, this time on a season-long loan. He made 30 appearances for the Danish Superliga side last term and won the club’s Player of the Year award.

Phil Giles, Brentford director of football, said: “Mads is one of the best professionals we have worked with over recent seasons. He is so dedicated and is someone who always scores highly on our athletic testing. He did extremely well on loan over the last 18 months, and ideally we would’ve liked to work with him for longer. However, we all recognise that at this stage of his career Mads needs to continue to start games every week.

"Since we are not in a position to offer him that we have agreed this transfer and will continue to be invested in his future success. I know everyone here will be pleased for Mads and wish him the best of luck at his new club.”
